It's that time of year: The holidays are coming to Watkins Glen and Schuyler County. And, although you'll find holiday spirit in our Hallmark-like villages all season, we'll be especially jolly the weekend of December 10-12! Village Christmas, in Watkins Glen, starts the weekend at 5pm on Friday with charming things to do (think cookie decorating), fun food vendors lining Franklin Street, and a parade that welcomes Santa and Mrs. Claus to town. The festival wraps up with a brilliant fireworks display, leaving plenty of time to check out the homes, farms, and businesses who are participating in Holiday Lights - Schuyler Style. (They need your vote to win prizes and bragging rights!) Spend Saturday hiking (or showshoeing!) in the Finger Lakes National Forest, stop for a photo in front of Shequaga Falls (fondly referred to as Hallmark Falls for its cameo appearance in the opening credits of a Hallmark Murder Mystery series), and browse the boutique shops in our community. Top off the weekend with a great dinner at Jerlandos and then wander down to the waterfront for a second night of fireworks that will illuminate Seneca Lake with picture-worthy flashes of color.
