Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce is always seeking active, engaged members to join our lineup of committees! Review the committee descriptions below and if you are interested in joining us, please feel free to log on to a virtual committee meeting on Zoom or contact Events & Membership Engagement Manager Abby Lane at Abby@watkinsglenchamber.com.

 

Membership Committee (Including the Ambassador Program) 

Committee Chair: Dena Carrigan, Chemung Canal Trust Company

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to promote the Chamber to potential investors and encourage continued participation from present members. Activities include continual membership recruitment, and an open ear to concerns and wishes of Chamber membership. The purpose of the Ambassador Committee is to support, strengthen and grow the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce’s membership and business community. The Ambassador Committee is split into two groups. Ambassador Group “A” are designated their own list of members and will work to contact each member multiple times throughout the year. Ambassador Group “B” will assist the Chamber is recruiting infinity markets (groups with specific interests) to vacation/meet in the Watkins Glen and Schuyler County area.

Upcoming Meetings: April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, December 9.

Meetings held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 8:30am. All meetings are held virtually via ZOOM until further notice.

 

Tourism Taskforce

Committee Chair: Carmella Hoffman, Sunset View Creamery

The purpose of the Tourism Taskforce is to promote, develop and enhance the tourist experience in the Watkins Glen and Schuyler County area.

Upcoming Meetings: April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9, December 14.

Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8:30am. All meetings are held virtually via ZOOM until further notice.

 

Events Committee (Including Winter Gala, Golf Tournament, Disc Golf Tournament, and Cornhole Tournament)

Winter Gala Committee Chair: Michel Ray, Visions Federal Credit Union

Golf Tournament Committee Chair: Stephen Klemann

Cornhole Tournament Chair: Brandon Stilwell

The purpose of the Event Committee is to assist the Events Manager to ensure financial and attendance goals, and visibility of the organization’s public facing events are met. Committee will also be responsible to add value to the member’s relationship with WGACC by providing specialized events for members that will expand their professional knowledge and contacts by selecting event topics, speakers, and locations for events, and work with staff to identify and secure event sponsors. The committee will also be compromised of subcommittees for the Winter Gala and Golf Tournament.

Upcoming Meetings: April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, December 16.

Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 3:00pm. Special meetings may be called pending current events.

 

Marketing Committee

Committee Chair: Dresden Engle Olcott

The purpose of the Marketing Committee is to be an advisory committee to the Communications Manager. Committee members role is to act as a sounding board for marketing strategies and tools, develop and hone innovative ideas, and provide feedback on marketing activities for both the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce and Explore Watkins Glen.

Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 3:30pm.

 

Business & Education Committee

Board Liaisons: Matt Sharpe & Wendy Shutter

The purpose of the Business and Education Committee (B&E)  is to support, strengthen and grow the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce’s educational and business community. This purpose is reached through a number of events that aim to stimulate our business economy and foster educational opportunities. Events include SPARK! Leadership Summit, our annual Business Expo, and monthly B2B Meet Ups (Business to Business) which hosts a professional speaking on an educational topic.

Meetings are held the 4th Friday of each month at *:30 am. All meetings are held virtually via ZOOM until further notice.
