New mandate took effect Monday, December 13
Governor Hochul announced a "mask or vaccinate" mandate for all indoor public businesses and venues in the state effective Monday, December 13, 2021. This means that if an indoor business or venue is open to the public, those responsible for the location must require that all entering have either received the COVID-19 vaccination or are wearing a mask. Click here to view more information on this "mask or vaccinate" requirement. The venue must choose one direction or the other, rather than asking the visitor. Everyone entering must wear masks or everyone entering must be vaccinated.
Originally, the mandate was to be re-evaluated on January 15, 2022. The re-evaluation will currently be conducted on February 1, 2022.
The border with Canada remains open.
