Watkins Glen International
The road course at Watkins Glen International, located just south of the village downtown at 2790 County Route 16, Watkins Glen, hosts today's pros from NASCAR to IMSA to Vintage Cups, offering racing buffs the ultimate in high-octane, family-friendly excitement. In fact, Watkins Glen International was voted the Best NASCAR Track in a USA Today Reader's Choice Poll - two years in a row (2016 and 2017)!
The Track is just four miles south of downtown Watkins Glen and is where fans can experience world-class racing, as well as unique events such as the Finger Lakes Wine Festival and Finger Lakes Beer Festival, and even large music events like Phish's Magnaball in 2017!
Drive the Glen
Visitors can even drive their own vehicles around the actual race circuit (unfortunately motorcycles are prohibited). And on days when the Track is open to the public, and not closed for private rental or an event, visitors can enjoy the Drive the Glen experience at either Noon or 5pm. Drive the Glen allows drivers to pilot their car or truck for two laps around the 3.4 mile Grand Prix circuit behind a paced vehicle. After two laps, your guide will stop at the Finish Line so you can take a picture of yourself at this famous place!
You can purchase tickets for Drive the Glen at the track's official retail store, The Shop, located in downtown Watkins Glen (2 North Franklin Street) or these tickets can be purchased at Gate 2 up at the Track itself. Drive the Glen staging begins at 11:30am for the Noon drive, and at 4:30pm for the 5pm drive.
Please note that all details pertaining to the Drive the Glen program are subject to change. Guests are encouraged to confirm daily Track availability, times, costs, and potential restrictions by calling the Track directly at (607) 535-2338.
